Students of the 1976-1981 set of Mary Knoll College, Okuku-Yala, Cross River State, recently came together to honour one of their former teachers, Noble Lady T. U. Ishabor, KSJI , for the positive contributions she made to their lives, 42 years after they left the school.
The old students represented by Dorncklaimz Enamhe, PhD and Mr Steve Bissong presented Mrs Ishabor with a cash gift for her impactful role as one of the best and most influential Teachers who played a prominent role in moulding and mentoring them as students at the foremost college.
The event, which took place at Mrs Ishabor’s Ogoja home, started with remarks and eulogies by Dr Enamhe who paid glowing tributes to the former teacher who recently celebrated her 80th birthday. Some of the students present also shared their different experiences with Mrs Ishabor when they were still students of the school.
Evidently excited at the honour, Mrs Ishabor noted that she was surprised at the visit as she didn’t know she will be honoured while she was still alive. According to her, she felt humbled by the gesture.
Mrs Ishabor who stated that she and her late husband gave their youthful ages to Mary Knoll College, said, “I felt that I must have impacted them positively for them to come up with this idea. I am still amazed by the gesture. I thank MARCO Class 81’for finding time to visit me. I am proud of them and pray God to continue to bless them in all their endeavours.”
There was positive energy and synergy in the visit as she was reminded of a topic she taught them on Integrated Science which she took time to refresh their memories to the admiration of everyone.
Dorncklaimz described Noble Lady Ishabor as a star who he wished could relive her years again, so that others could have positive encounters with her. He said, “When we (1976-1981 set) agreed of our plans to visit our former teacher, I was very interested because she is a star and priceless jewel.”
Noble Lady T. U Ishabor, KSJI and her husband, Chief E. U. Ishabor were tutors in Mary Knoll College from 1976 to 1981. Late Chief Ishabor taught Geography and History while Noble Lady T.U. Ishabor taught Integrated Science. Chief Ishabor passed on in the year 2018 while Noble Lady Ishabor celebrated her 80th birthday anniversary last year.
